Our coaching application is now open!
My name is Pete Ulibarri – I'm a dad, husband, teacher, carpenter, and disc golfer. Currently I’m a stay at home dad where I have been homeschooling my 9 year old son for the last 5 years. This lifestyle has helped me grow as a father, a disc golfer, and educator. I spent my youth and twenties riding and competing in BMX freestyle. In 2009, I decided to start playing the game of disc golf in order to catch up with my dad and my younger brother Paul Ulibarri. Once I started playing, I was hooked, which is why I’ve spent the last 13 years playing, competing, volunteering, teaching the game, mentoring, running tournaments and growing the sport here in Arizona, as well as designing and establishing new courses.
Over the last 13 years, I’ve competed in 136 PDGA events with 35 wins. My most notable wins have been several State championships A-tiers and most recently taking down the 2021 Memorial championships in the MP40 division.
In terms of lessons, I love to teach about general form and how to apply sound biomechanics to your movement. However, don't think that I overlook understanding wind, disc choices, course management, and – potentially most importantly – learning the mental aspects of the game.
Additionally, I love helping players discover their hidden potential. If I can find something that the individual has had success with or been good at in the past, be it athletics or video gaming, we can find a foundation to build their disc golf game up from. I believe with connection, trust, belief, and understanding, I can help any student reach their goals.
I hope I've made it sufficiently clear that teaching the game and mentoring players is truly a passion of mine. I have found more joy and fulfillment from watching the players I’ve mentored and coached over the years finding their success and winning than I have found from winning tournaments myself.
I'm so stoked to have this opportunity to join the Ulibarri Leadership Institute and provide my services to a broader audience. I’m so grateful to have their support and in turn support the future of our beloved game.
For the summer months I’ll be based out of Arizona’s premier disc golf course, Wilderness Ranch, in eastern Arizona. I’ll be able to schedule some limited dates in the Mesa/Phoenix area during the summer. Winter we will open up more dates in the Mesa/Phoenix area.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@uli.world if you have any questions or need any support booking. Thank you for booking through the Ulibarri Leadership Foundation, and we cannot wait to hear how much you enjoy your lesson with Pete!
